Blogtalk - yesterday evening

Last night I had the possibility to present the blog universe for several interesting people. Among them was one my earlier weblog-cases PostDanmark. In fact PostDanmark was host for the event.

The group of people was quite interesting - it was a kind of mastermind group. Among them was an Opera singer - she didn’t look like one. My picture of an opera singer is more like a German woman from the Bayern district, if you get the picture :-) From my perspective she looked very nice and I feel sorry for my self not telling her ..

Beside her there where also representatives from one of the great publishers in Scandinavia and also from one of the most respected national laboratories among other very interesting people.

The interesting thing was not where they came from - the interesting thing was their insight and well placed questions.

The discussions during my presentation certainly gave me hope for the integration of weblogs in Danish companies and associations - at last.

Some of the suggestions were - use weblogs as an intranet application, use weblogs as a project tool, use weblogs for group facilitation processes, use weblogs as a catalyst for value/mission/vision discussions internally.

So, something is happening. That’s VERY interesting.

But, don’t forget to calculate the soft implementation costs. A weblog is only a technical tool. Remember to take care of the “people-side” as well. Many projects have stalled because of the fact that software has been installed, but nobody told anybody how too use it, when to use it.
