Scale Free Networks

During summer I’ve been reading a few book on topics like Social Capital, Network topology – highly interesting for me as part of my company’s offering.

Some of the projects we’ve been doing lately are about the creation and facilitation of networks, internally and externally - everything to create and ensure valuable connections as part of innovation capability.

We see a lot of these projects coming and because of that we are interested in creating peers to other companies who have experience – and maybe showcases in this field.

One of the books I’ve been reading is “Linked” by Albert-László Barabási. He runs through network-theory history like it was an easy game. I’m amazed about how easy it seems for him to articulate difficult mathematics and history and can HIGHLY recommend the book if you consider studying network topology.

One of his conclusions and definitions of real-life networks is what he calls Scale Free Networks.

Scale-free networks are everywhere. The can be seen in airline traffic routes, connections between actors in Hollywood, weblog links, sexual relationships, and terrorist networks.

If you’re interested to learn more – read the book.

If you know of interesting other books, weblogs or other sources, please leave theme here as a comment to this post.
